Ten Days NSS Special Winter Camp concludes at GDC Doda

Doda::To instil the values of discipline and social service among the NSS volunteers, a ten days special winter camp was organized by the NSS unit of GDC Doda. The camp was coordinated under the able mentorship and patronage of Principal of the college, Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal. He motivated the NSS volunteers to perform the assigned tasks with utmost sincerity and dedication. The camp was conducted from 2nd December to 11th December 2022 in close coordination with IQAC unit of the college. The volunteers participated with great enthusiasm in this ten days-long winter camp. In this camp, a number of activities were organized viz., cleanliness drive in the college playground (02-12-2022), awareness rally regarding waste management in the market area surrounding college campus (03-12-2022) in collaboration with Green rangers ecoclub, drill rehearsel for NSS volunteers by trained NCC cadets of the college (04-02-2022), cleanliness of college botanical garden under ‘Shramdan’ (05-12-2022), poster making contest based on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (06-12-2022), group discussion about various problems of Doda town under ‘My Town My Pride’ theme (07-12-2022), awareness programme about New National Education Policy-2020 and ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ in the adopted village Jodhpur (08-12-2022), awareness lecture about self-employment opportunities (09-12-2022), Fit India Run from college campus to Ghat Nallah (10-12-2022), symposium on the topic “Role of discipline and social service in the personality development of a person” (12-12-2022). In the poster making contest the first, second and third prizes were bagged by Sumbal Ara and Atya Tabassum; Sehrish and Fitra, respectively while in symposium the three prizes were won by Atya Tabassum, Sagar Thakur and Salony Devi. Poster making contest was adjudged by Prof. Akrity Parihar, Dr. Tasir Sharief and Dr. Tabassum Saleem while the symposium was adjudged by Dr. Anita Kotwal, Prof. Preeti Devi and Prof. Akrity Parihar. Principal of the college addressed the NSS volunteers and other students at the culmination of the winter camp, and motivated them to adopt practical approach in life for solving real life problems being faced by the society. The different activities of winter camp were coordinated by Dr. Sumit Kotwal, NSS Programme Officer of the college. At the culmination of camp, he lauded the efforts of volunteers for active participation in the tasks assigned to them. Appreciation and participation certificates shall be awarded to the participant volunteers after winter break. The other faculty members who participated in different activities of the camp included Dr. Ajaz A. Wani, Prof. K.K. Manhas, Prof. Purnima Manhas, Prof. Zain Batt and Dr. Sarvjeet Singh.
