GDC Doda Organises symposium on Secularism in Urdu Poetry.

Doda::The department of Urdu in collaboration with Language Club and under the aegis of IQAC GDC Doda organised an intra-college symposium on the theme secularism in Urdu poetry.
The symposium was organised under the patronage of the principal of the college Dr Attar Singh Kotwal.
In the beginning of the programme Dr Akhtar Hussain HoD Urdu welcomed the chief guest of occasion Inspector Hamidullah Mahir, a renowned poet and writer of Chenab region. In his welcome address he stressed upon the need of bringing the secular nature of Urdu poetry to the forefront. He further elaborated the steps taken by his department for the promotion and upliftment of Urdu language.
Dr Imtiaz Ahmed Assistant Professor Urdu briefed the audience about the proceedings of the symposium and urged upon the students to actively participate in such programmes.
Around twelve students shed light on the given theme.
On the basis of their performance Mehboob Ahmed, Younis Saleem, and Aisha Banoo were awarded with the first, second and third prize respectively.
Dr Anaytullah Nadvi, Dr Sumit Kotwal, Dr Tasir Sharief and Prof Zain ul Abdeen acted as the judges for the competition.
In his presidential adress Prof Babu Ram applauded and congratulated the department of Urdu for choosing such a relevant and important theme.
On behalf of the college administration he further assured them of full support and guidance in their future endeavours.
Towards the end of the event Dr Tabassum Saleem from the department of English presented the vote of thanks.
The technical support for the programme was given by Dr Aijaz Ahmed.
Other faculty members who graced the occasion are Prof Falak, Prof Syed Kazim, Prof Upma Katoch, Prof Preeti and Prof Zain Butt.
