Bhaderwah Campus organised webinar on ‘Digital Banking Frauds’ in Collaboration with RBI

Bhaderwah January 22 : TBS, Bhaderwah Campus today organised a webinar on ‘Digital Banking Frauds’ in Collaboration with RBI.
The basic objective of the webinar was to aware and sensitise the participants and management students about the digital banking frauds and how deal with it effectively. 

Professor Rahul Gupta Rector Bhaderwah Campus and patron of event welcomed the esteemed Chief Guest,  resource person,  faculty members and students and participants from different institutions of Jammu and Kashmir. Professor Gupta also congratulated The Business School Bhaderwah Campus for always taking new initiatives for the holistic development of the students and for organising a webinar on a very critical issue i.e digital banking frauds in collaboration with Reserve Bank of India. Indian economy witnessed a tremendous increase in the number of digital banking transactions and simultaneously  increasing online banking frauds particularly during the Covid -19 pandemic.

Mr Ramesh  Chand, General Manager and Banking Ombudsman, Reserve Bank of India, was the Chief guest in the webinar . Mr Ramesh Chand, is a career banker and is a Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers. He has vast experience of more than 30 years of service in Banking and now re-designated as RBI Ombudsman pursuant to the launch of RBI Integrated Ombudsman Scheme-2021. Mr Ramesh Chand highlighted various current issues regarding the wellbeing of customers and consumer protection. Mr Ramesh also discussed various schemes launched by Reserve Bank India in the year 2021 and also shared the data regarding online complaints launched from various districts of UT of J&K in which the maximum number of complaints were registered from Srinagar followed by Jammu district and least number of complaints were filed from district Kishtwar 17 and only 1 Complaint was registered from Kargil in FY 2021-22. 
Mr Anil Reshi , Secretary and Deputy ombudsman, Reserve Bank of India, Jammu is the main resource person of the webinar. He completed over 20 years of service in the Bank and has wide experience of being associated with the literacy initiatives of the Bank. Mr Rishi discussed in great detail the Integrated Ombudsman Scheme of RBI ands its aim of “one nation, one email, one address” for the safety and ease of the customers. Mr Anil Rishi informed the house that numerous complaints related to banking transactions are received by RBI from different banks across the country on daily basis. He highlighted how highly sophisticated technologies and tactics are used by fraudsters for such thefts and how customers can protect their money from these miscreants.  Many participants like Shruti Gupta from GCW Gandhinagar, Babita, Neha Katal, Sameer Jamwal all from TBS, Bhaderwah Campus, Sneha Devi from GDC Kathua, Sahil Sajad from BGSBU asked questions to the resource person which were addressed effectively. These questions were related to the filling of complaints, charges involved, time involved in redressal mechanism, customers responsibilities, banks accountability etc.
At the end Mr Ramesh Chand and Mr Anil Rishi acknowledged The Business school Bhaderwah Campus and appreciated the organizing team for smoothly and effectively conducting the webinars on this burning issues. 


Dr Sunil Bhardwaj, Head of the Business School Bhaderwah Campus elaborated the theme of the webinar and also briefed the participants about the increasing banking fraud incidents during the covid -19 pandemic and highlight the importance of awareness about digital banking frauds in the present digital era. Further, he added that even highly educated citizen in the country lack financial literacy.

Dr Rohit Bhagat, Senior Assistant Professor in the department presented a formal vote of thanks. He assured that The Business School, Bhaderwah Campus is ready to walk extra miles with Reserve Bank of India to enhance financial literacy and awareness of masses and the tradition of organising webinars and corporate lectures in the business school will continue to provide best exposure to our students.
More than 150 participants have registered themselves for the webinar from different institutions across Jammu and Kashmir. 

The faculty members present during the webinar were Dr Pankaj Pareek from Rajasthan, Dr Jyoti Bahl from GDC Parade, Dr Vinay Sharma from BGSBU, Dr Jaswainder from GDC Kathua, Dr Taseer from GDC Basholi besides all the faculty members of TBS Bhaderwah Campus i.e Dr Mohammad Avais, Dr Umesh Chaudhary, Dr Menakshi Nargotra, Dr Atif Javed Qazi, Dr Surekha  Phakwrya, Mr Amit, Ms Aishiya Gupta, Ms Sonia Sharma and Mr Rajinder Kumar.
