NSS Unit GDC Doda organizes activities under Clean India Programme

Doda::The NSS unit of Government Degree College, Doda organized series of cleanliness drives to clean springs and rivers of Chenab valley under clean India Program w.e.f. 1st December to 15th December, 2021 under the banner of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.


The drive was flagged off by Principal of the college, Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal. He interacted with the volunteers and encouraged them to actively participate in this Clean India program for cleaning neighboring villages and water bodies (springs and rivers). 

The volunteers undertook the awareness cum cleanliness drive in the village Nalwa (covering 2 water springs), Ghat-Doda road (covering 1 spring) and Khellani Nala Road (covering 2 springs). Also, the tourist point at Puldoda (confluence of river Chenab and Neeru stream) was also cleaned and volunteers interacted with the employees of the tourism department. They, further, interacted with the locals and made them aware about the importance of preservation of water bodies. 

The work of NSS volunteers was appreciated by locals of the village. The entire program was supervised by Prof. Ankush Raaj, Convenor, NSS Committee and Dr. Sumit Kotwal, NSS Programme officer of the college.  Prof. Babu Ram, HoD Chemistry, Prof. K.K. Manhas, HoD Education and Dr. Anita Kotwal, HoD philosophy also participated in different cleanliness activities. 

The cleanliness drive was supported by members of Green Rangers Ecoclub of the college and the cadets of NCC (Infantry) and NCC (Naval Wing) under the guidance of Dr. Arjun Singh, CTO NCC Infantry and Prof. Zain Batt, CTO,NCC Naval Wing.
